Sound Reading Software and the Fluency
Foundation materials were used
as an intervention during a 3.5 week
summer school program with four 8th
grade students being held back in
middle school because of their
reading scores. Their reading coach
feels that her students benefited
from using the Sound Reading material even for a short period of
time. She saw obvious gains in her
student’s reading fluency and noted
that her students were aware of and
pleased with their improved reading
progress.
Closing the reading
achievement gap is the greatest challenge facing school
administrators today. Even schools with well-developed
literacy frameworks aligned to state standards may
struggle to make annual yearly progress (AYP).
